John is a Senior Managing Director and Global Investment Strategist in Heitman’s Public Real Estate Securities group. He is responsible for the group’s investment strategy, product development and investor communication initiatives, and leads the development and management of the group’s Global Prime strategies. Prior to these responsibilities, John lead the portfolio management team in Asia Pacific and co-managed the global real estate strategies. He is an equity owner of the firm and a member of the firm’s Global Management Committee. John has extensive experience in public equity, private equity, and debt markets. Prior to joining Heitman in 2010, John was co-head of real estate securities at Challenger (Heitman’s Asian JV partner for real estate securities) and portfolio manager at HSBC Asset Management. Before moving to investment management in 2001, John worked across the region in real estate equity research and banking roles and began his career as a real estate valuer.

John is a graduate of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Program, holds a BBus in Land Economy from Western Sydney University and Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. He is a member of the GRESB Standards Committee. Additionally, John is a Non-Executive Director in the not-for-profit sector, at HousingFirst and Child and Family Services, as well as a member of RICS, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and FINSIA.
