Job Description

Heitman is in search of an Inclusion & Diversity leader to drive the strategic vision and oversight of initiatives that foster an environment of diversity and inclusion. Reporting into the Chief People Officer, this role will provide administrative leadership that leverages the expertise and resources of both internal and external stakeholders to design effective, comprehensive programs that drive mutually agreed upon initiatives related to diversity and inclusion throughout the organization. They will lead the short and long-term planning, execution and management of these efforts and programs across the firm. The I&D leader will serve as a thought leader for I&D by staying informed on best practices, benchmarks, competitors and developing appropriate methods that are aligned with Heitman’s purpose and values.

The responsibilities of a Head of Inclusion and Diversity include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, execute and manage a global inclusion and diversity strategy
  • Partner with and support Marketing/Communications, Talent Acquisition and HR Business teams to drive the design and delivery of inclusive messaging and people processes throughout the organization.
  • Educate and coach management on progressive ways to enhance diversity and inclusion on their teams and across the organization.
  • Create tools, guidelines, and solutions to help the organization establish and maintain a diverse, welcoming environment.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to discover and utilize the most effective and relevant practices and external partnerships to help attract and hire a diverse group of candidates.
  • Identify, develop and/or facilitate training and professional development programs to support the understanding and active practice of I&D.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor diversity metrics
  • Responsible for community engagement to build partnerships and drive mutually agreed upon initiatives related to I&D
  • Diagnose and develop plans to resolve organization challenges to diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Help identify gaps and opportunities to improve performance on diversity and inclusion efforts


  • 10 years of Human Resources experience with 5 specifically focused on Inclusion and Diversity
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (i.e. Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial-Organizational Psychology); Master’s degree and/or PHR preferred
  • Strong project management skills; hands-on experience in defining and implementing Inclusion and Diversity initiatives that have improved business performance, fostered retention and developed the employee population
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to present information in a concise and persuasive manner
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, changing environment
