Job Description

Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working alongside various team members, the Assistant Accounting Manager performs a variety of professional level accounting duties. This position has exposure to Heitman’s global consolidated company, and is a key resource for completion of the monthly close process and for assistance in corporate reporting.

The responsibilities of an Assistant Accounting Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate month-end consolidated financial statements, including recording or reviewing consolidating journal entries and related intercompany transactions, as well as overseeing closing month-end and year-end entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with a focus on understanding and clearing out outstanding items timely and properly.
  • Perform accounting research and financial statement analysis to provide management with financial data and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Supervise a Senior Accountant, with an emphasis on oversight of the firm’s revenues and accounts receivable.
  • Responsible for becoming a backup for other team member’s main functions, with the end goal of alleviating the overflow resulting from various time constraints.
  • Backup to fixed assets and leases system for tracking fixed assets/leases, and manage updates for additions, modifications and disposals of fixed assets/leases.
  • Coordinate with select third-party accounting service providers abroad; review and record the corresponding monthly financials; follow-up on any open items or questions that arise.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and manage the global audits of the firm.
  • Prepare or review various domestic and international regulatory filings and VAT reporting.
  • Record activity related to Heitman employee investor entities and prepare periodic reports for investors.
  • Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities within the team, as needed.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience working in a global company highly desired.
  • CPA with audit experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
  • Previous supervisory experience highly preferred.
