This Opportunity

The primary objective of this role is to achieve better operating leverage through additional support for the Client Service team and, ultimately, improve the overall client experience.  Based in the firm’s Chicago headquarters, the position will report to the Vice President, Client Service & Marketing and will work on the Client Service team in the firm’s Client Service & Marketing Department. The Senior Associate will provide day-to-day support to the Client Service team as well as the broader Client Service & Marketing department as needed.

The primary goal of the position is to provide end-to-end support and help the team deliver a distinctive client experience across Heitman’s private real estate equity, public real estate securities, and private real estate debt solutions. The Senior Associate will assist with creating and drafting external facing marketing presentations and investor summaries and supporting the overall Client Service & Marketing team in executing the global strategic client service and marketing plan to retain clients and drive commercial success. Duties include researching competitors, compiling reports and presentations, coordinating meeting logistics, creating presentations, and other important prospecting initiatives. The Senior Associate will also work closely with colleagues within the Client Service & Marketing function as well as across the firm on a variety of projects (e.g. annual North American Investor Conference).

It is expected that the successful candidate will act independently, be a collaborative, goal-oriented professional, bring a strong interest in developing institutional relationships over time and possess a “can do” service orientation. The ability to use discretion and be self-directed, organized and results oriented will be critical to success. Extensive software skills, internet research abilities and strong communication skills are required.

The responsibilities of a Senior Associate, Client Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Assemble external facing draft marketing presentations and assist with client/prospect follow up activity
  • Prepare client/prospect briefing documents
  • Support Sales Representatives with respect to data administration on the CRM (SalesForce) with an aim to ensure all activity is recorded promptly and client records are up-to-date
  • Create, maintain, and update Strategic Client Management (SCM) plans
  • Quarterback onsite meetings and conference calls, prepare agendas, reserve and prepare facilities
  • Prepare records such as agendas, notices, minutes and assist in the preparation of letters, investment briefs, and presentations
  • Acquire a deep knowledge of Heitman’s global product suite
  • Assist with competitor research projects and independently monitor industry and competitor trends across asset classes, products, structures etc. to help drive product development decisions
  • Expand industry knowledge with an emphasis on developing an understanding of the real estate market
  • Assist the team with Investor Conference and other company events, as needed
  • Assist with special projects as required

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • 3+ years of sales, marketing and client management experience
  • Real estate industry experience a plus
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills with clients, internal and external
  • Evidence of working closely with other teams to influence colleagues at all levels of the business
  • Strong written and oral communication skills – clear and organized thinking, an engaging personal style
