This Opportunity

Heitman – Public Securities is expanding its quantitative research and looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative, and results-driven individual with 3-5 years of experience in quantitative data analysis to join us. The team's mandate is to accelerate the pace of innovation across the Public Securities department. The scope of potential activities includes: devising methodologies to enhance our analysis and research capabilities, developing tools to empower the team including research and reporting, and partnering with colleagues to create new ways to classify, compare, and evaluate proprietary and third-party data.

The responsibilities of a Senior Associate, Quant Analyst in Public Real Estate Securities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with portfolio management colleagues globally to identify areas where we might apply quantitative methods to benefit our teams and, in turn, our clients
  • Develop new methodologies, processes, or tools to empower our analysts and enhance our research
  • Evaluate the efficacy of new or existing methodologies using Python, R and SQL
  • Take analytical objectives and define data requirements. Extract, clean, and transform market data for purposes of analysis, modeling and reporting
  • Design and build automations to pull data and transform it into a consistent, coherent format supporting modeling and analytics
  • Produce accurate statistical analysis and ensure high quality of the data analysis produced
  • Ability to run multiple requests and prioritize while still maintaining accuracy of data
  • Communicate clear and concise project status information to key stakeholders
  • Dedication and perseverance to overcome data, analytical, and/or technical challenges
  • Experience working on open-ended custom analytic requests

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and moderate Python skills (with a high willingness to continue learning)
  • Strong Power BI and SQL knowledge
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis
  • Experience of data science and working knowledge of database management
  • Grasp of equity data and an interest in equity research
  • Experience in data analysis, preferably related to investment research
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Comfortable taking the initiative and working without detailed guidance or supervision
  • Proactive and positive attitude and a team player
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with various groups including Accounting, IT, Operations, Client Service and Marketing
  • Ability and interest to understand complex calculation and technical subjects
  • Investigative ability — passionate and persistent in seeking to understand new data sources and creative in their application
  • Enjoys working with extensive amounts of data
