Job Description

Our Chicago office is seeking a highly motivated, independent Public Securities finance operations leader to be responsible for overseeing accounting, operations, client management, and reporting for Heitman’s Global Public Securities platform.

The responsibilities of a Finance Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a team responsible for accounting, client management, and reporting
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all client accounting data and transactions recorded in the portfolio accounting system by the operations team
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting data between multiple internal systems used per management reporting and performance reporting.
  • Working with internal and external partners on client and corporate audits
  • Responsible for the maintenance and oversight of our soft dollar and research payment arrangements.
  • Maintain, and optimize portfolio accounting system
  • Responsible for reporting, billing, receivables follow up, and approvals
  • Responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining global business continuity plans in partnership with technology team
  • Manage routine data requests from clients and 3rd parties necessary for Heitman performance evaluations, handle ad hoc request, and answer day to day questions
  • Oversight of custodial reconciliation
  • Working in conjunction with portfolio analytic team on reporting to our clients
  • Support Heitman’s various fund platforms through day to day oversight, quarterly board meetings, monthly operations meetings, and audits
  • Support compliance team on ADVs and other routine requests
  • Ensure appropriate coverage for 1st tier global support when client and system issues occur
  • Managing the client on - boarding and customizations

Qualifications

  • BA in accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum 5+ yrs. of relevant work experience
  • Experience with the global equities and derivatives asset classes
  • Strong leadership, team management, communication and delegation experience
  • Accounting operations experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of databases and data structure a plus
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Strong computers skills a must including advanced Excel
  • Knowledge of GIPS Standards highly desired
  • Knowledge of Eagle Star/Pace highly desired
