This Opportunity
Heitman’s Product Strategy & Design (“PS&D”) Team seeks to drive organic revenue growth by enhancing product development and innovation and by bringing greater strategic discipline and insight to the products we offer our clients. We keep abreast of evolving industry trends and ensure that Heitman has a robust product suite to support our clients’ needs through market cycles. We partner closely with all Heitman’s investment business globally, as well as the sales, client service, and marketing teams to deliver client solutions and achieve firm objectives.
We focus on four key pillars i.e. 1) Innovation & Product Development, 2) Product Management & Oversight, 3) Product Marketing and 4) Strategy & Corporate Initiatives. Based out of Heitman’s Chicago office, the candidate and other associates on the team will be responsible for supporting the integral functions of the team. The position offers a wealth of opportunities to interact with businesses and groups across the firm as well as with senior investors, client representatives and other key stakeholders.
The responsibilities of a Senior Associate, Product Strategy & Design include, but are not limited to:
- Acquiring a deep knowledge of Heitman’s global product suite
- Participating in the quarterly product development process, including partnering with cross-functional teams and assisting with the coordination of various internal processes associated with evaluating new ideas from the product ideation phase through product development
- Supporting the PS&D team in the execution of ongoing product management initiatives, including conducting franchise reviews to ensure that Heitman’s products are positioned optimally in the market
- Understanding the market landscape and assisting in providing intelligence on investment themes, product trends, competitor offerings and pricing, and synthesizing the implications for Heitman
- Developing relationships across the firm to collaborate with Heitman’s investment, sales, client service, and marketing teams on various product initiatives
- Assisting in a range of cross functional product strategy projects and strategic initiatives
- Building industry knowledge with an emphasis on developing an understanding of the real estate market
We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:
- BS/BA degree. A degree in business administration, finance, marketing or economics is a plus
- 0-4 years of experience in the asset management industry with knowledge of investment products and product development. Real estate, real assets or private markets is a plus
- Strong organizational skills; pro-active, self-starter who takes ownership of projects, is detail oriented and can
- prioritize and execute various projects in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative individual with strong relationship-building skills who can partner successfully with employees at all levels
- Demonstrated desire to learn and an enthusiasm to continuously improve processes, quality of work output and one’s self and skills
- Strong analytical skills and an ability to synthesize and summarize content as appropriate
- Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form
- Expertise in using MS PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Progress towards a CFA is a plus
