Job Description

Heitman is seeking a high potential real estate finance leader who is looking for an opportunity to contribute to a well-respected, fast-growing, and dynamic organization. This senior leader will be responsible for leading the Financial Operations & Analysis group (FOA) with a strong emphasis on managing a team of financial analysts and accountants within our Private Equity North America practice. The FOA group works collaboratively with Portfolio & Asset Management to help them drive investment performance and provide meaningful reporting to our investors.

The responsibilities of a Senior Vice President, Financial Operations & Analysis include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage, recruit, and provide exceptional leadership and mentorship to a talented, high potential team
  • Maintain vendor relationships with our newly external Fund Administrator and Valuation Modeling partners
  • Build and refine policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure timely and high quality deliverables from the external partners
  • Participate in designing and implementing the firm’s Enterprise Information Management platform
  • Lead a process driven approach throughout the group to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Oversee FOA’s responsibility for receiving proper accounting and valuation models, preparing financial analysis and fund modeling, and providing investor reporting, which includes property and debt internal and external valuations, annual budget/business plans, cash management planning, annual audits, property operations, and ad hoc requests
  • Support Portfolio & Asset Management and Client Service & Marketing, which includes participation in presentations with current and potential investors
  • Lead FOA and develop an expanded scope and breadth of FOA responsibilities as external service providers are completely on-boarded
  • Coordinate personnel decisions, efficiencies, and initiatives within the department and monitor adherence to the corporate budget
  • Represent Heitman by participating in industry initiatives sponsored by NCREIF, MSCI, INREV, Argus

Qualifications

  • Ten years in a leadership role managing a group with proven exceptional client service delivery
  • Strong technical skills in real estate reporting, valuations, and analysis
  • Strong leadership, change management, and people development abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, navigate through unexpected challenges, and bring about viable solutions that provide the best results
  • Solid presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Big 4 accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience in Yardi and Argus is a plus
