This Opportunity

Our Chicago office is seeking a Senior Performance Associate to join their Financial Operations & Analysis team.

The responsibilities of a Senior Performance Associate, Financial Operations & Analysis include, but are not limited to:

  • Calculation of various returns metrics including time-weighted returns, IRR’s and equity multiples
  • Compilation of quarterly Heitman firm-wide performance report for executive management
  • Preparation of performance schedules for marketing RFP’s and client requests
  • Review and submission of various NCREIF, MSCI, INREV and ANREV benchmarks
  • Attribution analysis of performance metrics
  • Creation of composite performance and footnotes for Heitman’s GIPS presentations
  • Coordination of GIPS verification with independent audit firm
  • Assisting asset management, research & marketing in special projects
  • Developing an understanding of GIPS and NCREIF/PREA Reporting Standards, applying current regulations to performance presentations.
  • Demonstrate initiative by leading ad hoc projects and analyses
  • Assist in automation of performance returns and reporting
  • Assist in the development of tech-enabled tools that will increase efficiencies, provide insights, and provide value across the real estate lifecycle
  • Liaise between fund administration, asset management, joint venture partners, and fund clients
  • Work with asset management, research, and acquisitions teams to assist in preparation of and analysis of quarterly property and debt valuations

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • 3-5 years’ finance, accounting or performance measurement experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage requests from multiple business partners under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with data visualization software (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.), business planning software (Anaplan and similar) and robotic process automation (“RPA”) software is a plus
